In addition, through Decree No. 11,362, in its article 24, the Department for the Promotion of Freedom of Expression is inaugurated within the Social Communication Secretariat (Secom) of the Presidency of the Republic.

The National Attorney of the Union for the Defense of Democracy will be the body designed to keep opponents online.
It will have the legal powers to prosecute those who disclose “disinformation about public policies”, both on social networks and in the media.
According to the document, this Attorney General’s Office may, among other things, “represent the Union, judicially and extrajudicially, in lawsuits and response procedures and confrontation with disinformation about public policies.”

The document does not explain the criteria that will be used to define what would be legitimate information or “fake news”.
At the same time, it does not detail what the new prosecutor’s office structure will be like and what methodology will be used to monitor the facts, which facilitates abuse of power and censorship by public authorities.
The new Attorney General of the Union, Jorge Messias, already warned during his inauguration ceremony that the “attacks on the authorities that we have witnessed in recent years will no longer be tolerated”, obviously referring not to physical attacks but to simple critics against his figures.
This is part of a false narrative created by the left and the media aligned with the PT regime that promotes that Bolsonaro’s followers belong to a violent and anti-democratic right, while they were the ones who wanted to ban the then president so that he cannot be present, then they were the ones who refused to audit the elections and now they are the ones who want to arrest the former president.
On the other hand, the Attorney General’s Office will have the support of the new Department for the Promotion of Freedom of Expression, which will do everything except promote freedom of expression.
This department will have among its powers “to propose and articulate public policies to promote freedom of expression, access to information and combat misinformation and hate speech on the Internet.”
In other words, it will work with the Ministry of Justice and Public Security to regulate what is published on social networks and digital media.
Under the excuse of caring for freedom of expression, a brutal censorship of expression will be unleashed, worthy of the theory of “doublethink” that George Orwell exposed critically in his work “1984”.
These measures seek to put Brazil in record time in a situation similar to those of Venezuela and Nicaragua, and where Bolivia and Colombia are also headed. All the leftist governments aligned with the São Paulo Forum have stepped on the accelerator in the direction of Cuba.
